mounting the pressurestat on Europiccola anni '60

Since I started using daily the Europiccola 60s, one of the rules that I have to respect , was the fact of having to preside the coffee machine and wait until come out the steam from the valve, so as to move the switch from maximum to minimum

I then decided to prepare a machine ad hoc, with pressurestat, so as to avoid having to manually manage the power

The original diagram is made to give power to 200W resistance (recognizable from the poles closer together) when the switch is at position MINIMO and provide power to both the resistance at position MASSIMO

The new diagram, allows you to use the switch as ON / OFF and through the use of pressurestat, the pressure regulation is done automatically, similar to the latest models. If you want you can add the thermostat to protect the resistance

to achieve the change needed:

MATERIAL NEEDED:

  • TICKNESS BOILER-BASE

  • BRASS RING TO BOILER OLD MODEL  (fine thread)

  • 3 BOLTS FOR HEATING ELEMENT

  • SPRING WITH WHITE PLASTIC BALL

  • HEATING ELEMENT SINGLE POWER (any type)

  • HEATING ELEMENT GASKET

  • PRESSURESTAT (any type)

  • WIRES

Previously I had completely disassembled the machine and prepared the necessary  parts

after mounting the group, I put the thickness onto the boiler

I put the base onto the boiler and the brass ring (Do not use the thickness under the ring, because the remaining thread is not sufficient to allow the screwing of the heating element)

using the specific tool

 I've screwed the ring

I screwed the heating element and correctly repositioned the pressurestat

and finally I have prepared and inserted the wires necessary for proper powering of the heating element

before operating the machine I replaced the spring and ball of the safety valve with the newer type spring and white plastic ball. This operation is necessary otherwise steam starts to come out before the machine reaches the pressure. To be sure of the pressure reached, a pressure gauge should be mounted temporarily on the glass level.

and here is the machine ready to use!
